FIVE END OF SUMMER SKIN TIPS

FIVE END OF SUMMER SKIN TIPS

Tip #1: Address sun-damaged skin including your age spots and freckles

Frustrated that you have more freckles, blotchy skin tone, and darker age spots after the summer? Even your best efforts at sun protection don’t keep the sun off your skin 100%.

Your first line of at home care will be products containing glycolic..  These over the counter creams help lighten over time.  Professional vitamin C products can powerfully benefit your skin too, but they are not all created equal. In my opinion, the best professional vitamin C skin care product is my Cell Repair Serum/CRS because it contains a full 15% of L ascorbic acid in a serum that has the requisite pH of 3 and is dispensed in airtight pump – all necessary details to protect the vitamin C so that you get the most out of your vitamin C skin care treatment. You can layer the Cell Repair Serum on top of the Green Tea Antioxidant Skin Therapy for the best combination antioxidant skin care available today. Your skin will look, feel, and be healthier overall.

Your second and most effective is to get a BBL laser treatment. In one to 2 sessions, your age spots and freckling can be eradicated with no down time at all.  Follow this up with your at home creams for a smoother and clearer complexion.

2.   Rehydrate and repair your lips

Weathered, chapped lips tell the tale of your outdoor adventures, but they’re also painful, cracked, and vulnerable. With cooler temperatures just around the corner, you’ve got to get your chapped lips healed as soon as possible. Use a deeply hydrating and hypoallergenic lip quencher like Ceralip with lip-healing shea butter. When you’re outdoors and need sun protection use the mineral lip sunscreen LipCotz.

In our office, schedule a Medical Facial where the dry, damaged skin and lips can be professionally exfoliated and a soothing, hydrating mask placed over the entire face and lips.  Facials should be done in the office every 4 -6 weeks.

3. See your dermatologist

I always find more skin cancers on my patients’ skin after summer. Self skin exams and professional skin exams done by your dermatologist save lives. Learn what to look for on your own skin and schedule an appointment with your doctor.

4.Don't put away sunblock

Sunscreen should be used year round.  Your skin is the first line of defense against the sun’s rays so it’s important to protect it by covering up, avoiding the sun between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and not being deceived by fall’s cooler weather or clouds in the sky. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, up to 40 percent of the sun’s ultraviolet radiation reaches the earth on a completely cloudy day. People have a responsibility to take care of their largest organ: the skin.
